In 2010, the National Police participated in a 2 month training of trainers in which an internal pool of trainers on Human Rights, Gender and GBV were trained. In 2011, the training was replicated to over 370 police officers. Between 2012 and 2013, the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity provided technical support to the Police Training School for the inclusion of a gender and gender based violence module in the school’s curricula. A Procedures Manual exists and was developed to harmonize police responses to GBV cases.
