Article 37 of the Constitution of the Republic of Guinea Bissau adopted in 1996 includes the following provisions: 1 - The moral and physical integrity of citizens shall be inviolable. 2 - No one may be subjected to torture or to treatments or punishments that are cruel, inhumane or degrading. 3 - Under no circumstances shall there be forced labor or custodial sentence or detention order of unlimited or indefinite duration.
