Brief Description


The National Committee on Gender-Based Violence is composed of government institutions, UN agencies, national and international organizations working on the prevention and response to gender-based violence.  The Committee meets regularly and is chaired by the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children's Affairs and co-chaired by the Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of crime services. 

A Programme Officer (a civil servant) serves as the Coordinator for the Committee.  He is in charge of gender policy issues and legislations aimed at promoting the rights of women and girls in country.  He coordinates all partner organizations working on the prevention and response to gender-based violence across the country
