The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is currently researching the antecedents to female domestic violence homicides in the past 10 years, with a view to determining the nature and quality of interventions with the victim and or perpetrator, and whether opportunities for effective intervention were maximised. The research will also examine the requisite steps for the introduction of a domestic violence homicide review mechanism in Ireland. The ODPP are providing the raw data for analysis by the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit of the London Metropolitan University who successfully tendered for this research project which was commissioned by Women's Aid (Due for publication in 2009).
