Since 2010, there are 85 listening and counselling services for women and girls who are survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) in Benin. These services were set up gradually by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Microfinance with the financial support of the Royal Danish Embassy. Their mission is to provide legal assistance and direct counselling to women and girl survivors of GBV. It is essential to consider the improvement of the geographical, legal and social accessibility of assistance and counselling for GBV survivors. Four objectively verifiable indicators are considered. These are
- The number of awareness sessions
- The number of visits to the health centers in order to assess the population's awareness of the role played by the health centers and the importance of providing information. It was noted that there has been an increase in the rate of physical visits to the SE/VBG (21480 in 2012 and 38936 in 2018 compared to 35276 in 2017).
- in the number of new cases opened,
- the number of cases resolved.
