Botswana enacted the Domestic Violence Act (No. 10 of 2008) to provide protection to survivors of domestic violence. The Act deals with the jurisdiction of the courts; describes how a person who alleges to have been subjected to an act of domestic violence can submit an application for an order by the court; explains how documents are served to the alleged perpetrator; and identifies the nature of proceedings in a domestic violence case.
