Brief Description

Concerning the prevention of all forms of gender-based violence, the Malian authorities have created the National Programme for the Abandonment of Gender-based Violence (PNVBG) according to Law No 2019-014 of 3 July 2019. Decree No. 2019-0584 PRM of 29 July 2019 sets out the organisation and operating procedures of the PNVBG. The National Programme for the Abandonment of Gender-Based Violence (PNVBG) works to prevent and prohibit practices such as female genital mutilation and early and forced child marriage. This programme replaced the National Programme to Combat the Practice of Excision, created in 2001, whose mission was to reduce the rate of excision and abandon practices harmful to women's health.
