The Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) in Nigeria was the first of its kind not only in Nigeria, but also in West Africa. The VACS Nigeria was executed by the National Population Commission in 2014. It provides, for the first time, national estimates that describe the magnitude and nature of sexual, physical and emotional violence experienced by under 18 females and males in Nigeria. The information is designed to help support efforts in Nigeria to develop and implement effective child-friendly violence prevention strategies, as well as to improve service provision for all Nigerians, especially for children who experience violence.
