Form of Violence | Violence against women and girls |
The 2019 SLDHS included the DHS domestic violence module, designed to collect information on domestic violence from all eligible women. The module was implemented in half of the sample households. In households with more than one eligible woman, only one woman was randomly selected for the module. Furthermore, the module was administered only if complete privacy was obtained. In total, 5,248 women were successfully interviewed with the module; 1% of eligible women could not be interviewed, mainly due to lack of privacy. Specially constructed weights were used to adjust for the selection of only one woman per household and to ensure that the domestic violence subsample was nationally representative.
