The Standard Operating Procedures for Gender Based Violence Prevention Protection and Response in South Sudan was developed through consultative process with inputs from various government institutions, UN Agencies, International and National nongovernmental Organizations and Traditional Chiefs at National and State level. This document sets clear systems, roles and responsibilities for all institutions involved in the prevention, protection and response to GBV in South Sudan. This document is in line with the Republic of South Sudan Legal and policy frameworks and other international frameworks such as the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines for GBV Interventions in Humanitarian Settings, UNHCR’s Sexual and Gender-based Violence against Refugees, Returnees, and Internally Displaced Persons, and Guidelines for Prevention and Response.
