In 2012, in the framework of the Violence against Women Act, an investigation was launched into the effective and timely access of women to the criminal justice system, which is a continuous process aimed at identifying critical aspects in the area. INAMU has also helped to draw attention to a number of important issues, such as new forms of violence against women, organized crime and trafficking in women, and has contributed to broadening the legal definition of femicide, bringing it into line with the Convention of Belém do Pará.
