The Special EVAW Courts were established across Afghanistan since 2015. These initiatives combined with United Nations Country Team and donor supported awareness raising and capacity building, resulted in an increase in reporting of incidents of violence against women to the formal justice system. In 2017, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) reported that of the 4340 VAW incidents, 2286 cases were registered.
