The Kingdom of Bahrain launched its National Database and Statistics on Domestic Violence (Takatuf), concurrently with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in December 2017, as part of the National Strategy for the Protection of Women against Domestic Violence, and the promotion of cooperation between the Supreme Council for Women and the Ministry of Interior. This database is intended to monitor and follow up the different cases of domestic violence using a sophisticated electronic platform for unified recording of cases of violence. Unified standard definitions and classifications of violence cases are adopted to conduct studies and obtain statistics which improve Bahrain’s status in international reports.
