The campaign is designed to publicize the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women adopted by the General Assembly in 1993 and the legal protection mechanisms for women victims of violence put in place in the framework of ongoing efforts to end violence against women and provide them with legal protection. The Ministry of Human Rights is furthermore running awareness programmes in 14 governorates, excluding the region of Kurdistan, on the dangers of domestic violence.
