Between 25 November to 10 December each year, an initiative entitled “Sixteen days without violence against women” is conducted in the context of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In 2010, more than 25,000 people participated, of whom some 17,000 were police officers and more than 8,000 were representatives of interested State bodies and NGOs. More than 240,000 booklets, pamphlets and posters were distributed, and more than 6,000 signs and billboards were put up with information on legislation on the prevention of domestic violence. Some 112,000 pamphlets and booklets on the subject were distributed at more than 41,000 apartments and houses. The labor and social protection authorities have received more than 3,000 requests to find employment for women in difficulty.
