Article 127 of the Personal Status Act, as amended by Act No. 29 of 2004, stipulates that the court must make every effort to reconcile the spouses on grounds of harm, inflicted by word or act, which renders continued cohabitation impossible; however, if reconciliation proves to be unattainable and harm has been established, the court must separate them. If harm has not been established, the court must appoint two arbitrators to decide whether the spouses should be reconciled or separated.
