As part of the growing global response to the issue of trafficking, Oman has strengthened its resolve and efforts to combat human trafficking. These efforts have led to the promulgation of the Law on Combating Human Trafficking (promulgated by Royal Decree 126/2008) and the setting up of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking (established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in 2009 in accordance with Article 21 of the Law on Combating Human Trafficking), headed by the Inspector General of Police and Customs. The Committee includes members of various governmental and non governmental bodies. It is responsible for submitting an annual report on its efforts and progress to the Council of Ministers.
