In accordance with paragraph 1 of the Action Plan of the State Programme for the Prevention of Domestic Violence in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2014–2023 and paragraph 6 of the National Action Plan to Implement the Recommendations Provided by the Member States of the UN Human Rights Council as part of the Universal Periodic Review (second cycle) for 2017–2020 approved by Order No. 901 of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, dated 7 June 2017, in order to improve legislation to strengthen gender policies and protect women’s rights, pursuant to the Instruction of the Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, dated 29 June 2017, a Working Group on Improvement of Legal Acts on Elimination of Gender Stereotypes, Protection of Women’s Rights and Prevention of Domestic Violence was established. This Working Group has been divided into three sub groups:
Subgroup 1: Issues related to the improvement of legal acts on the elimination gender stereotypes (under the Committee on Women and the Family in the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Project on Prevention of Domestic Violence (PDV)),
Subgroup 2: Issues related to the improvement of legal acts on the protection of women’s rights (under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the UNDP’s Rule of Law and Access to Justice Programme),
Subgroup 3: Issues related to the improvement of legal acts on the prevention of domestic violence (under the General Prosecutor’s Office in collaboration with the PDV Project).
All sub groups worked in close collaboration with the civil society, gender non-governmental organizations that are part of the Coalition for the Promotion of Gender Equality and Women’s Rights "From Equality de jure to Equality de facto." Currently, all recommendations of the sub groups of the Working Group are under consideration of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
