Brief Description


The Family Protection Law No 4320 entered into force in January 1998.  The scope of the Law was widened on 26 April 2007, and the Law entered into force on 1 March 2008.  Under the law, family court judges may decide all precautionary measures to be taken against the perpetrator, including sending the perpetrator away from the spouse's house. When and if the Family Court Judge deems appropriate, he/she can, under the law, order the perpetrator to "apply to a healthcare institution for examination or treatment".
