On 15 October 2016, the Law of Turkmenistan "On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings" was adopted, which introduced norms regarding the identification of victims of human trafficking and the procedure for assigning the status of a victim of human trafficking to a person who has suffered from this criminal act, as well as other aspects aimed at effective anti-trafficking activities. According to this law, in order to bring the national legal framework in line with international standards in the field of combating human trafficking, appropriate amendments and additions were made to the Criminal Code of Turkmenistan, to the Code of Administrative Offenses of Turkmenistan, as well as to the Law of Turkmenistan "On Bar Association in Turkmenistan", "On employment of the population", and "On advertising".
