In 2016, a study report was published by the Estonian Institute of Open Society Research on the cost of domestic violence in Estonia. The study was prepared in the framework of an open call project "Building a uniform system for the prevention of intimate partner violence (IPV) in Estonia“, financed from the Norway Grants domestic and gender-based violence programme. According to the study, the yearly cost of domestic violence in Estonia is 116.5 million euros. Studies on the prevalence and awareness of sexual violence and of awareness and attitudes of the Estonian population concerning gender-based violence and trafficking in human beings were conducted in 2014 and 2016.
