The Government Action Plan for Gender Equality 2008-2011 outlines the measures by which the Government will promote equality between women and men. The Action Plan notes, that violence against women has not been reduced during the last ten years and that the work against domestic and intimate partner violence, including violence against women must be continued. Cooperation on many levels between Ministries, regional and local authorities has been initiated. According to the Plan, each Ministry must appoint a responsible officer to implement government measures in fighting violence against women.
