Form of Violence Violence against women and girls, Sexual violence

Brief Description

Authorities conduct information and awareness campaigns to change attitudes and behaviors with regard to violence against girls and women. Launched on September 30, 2018 with a budget of €4 million, the “Reacting can change everything” communication campaign is aimed at those around victims and witnesses of gender-based and sexual violence. Four commercials illustrate the diversity of types of violence (sexist or sexual, verbal or physical) and the context (private sphere, professional and school sphere and public space). In addition, videos give voice to victims, witnesses or professionals who have been confronted with gender-based and sexual violence. By sharing these experiences, the public authorities wish to encourage everyone to react. The stop-violences-femmes.gouv.fr website also has a section “I am a witness” to help anyone react to situations of sexist and sexual violence. Finally, the awareness Twitter account called @arretonsles <https://twitter.com/arretonsles> is a resource center for women victims but also an awareness-raising tool to mobilize against gender-based and sexual violence.
