The Parliament approved the revision of the Criminal Code to strengthen the protection of women and girls from physical and sexual violence. The revision made Liechtenstein’s criminal law compatible with the requirements of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, tighten sentences for sexual offences and extend the period of limitation for offences committed against minors. The amendments entered into force in October 2019.
