Form of Violence | Violence against women and girls |
The Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women's Rights asked the Monegasque Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE) to carry out a study on violence committed against women, including violence at work and, in particular, all forms of harassment at work. The first results, aimed at providing indicators on violence against women in order to define the most appropriate public policies, were published in January 2020 and are available on the IMSEE website (www.imsee.mc). This publication presents the main data available on violence against women in Monaco during 2019. It provides an overview of this violence according to various measurable indicators. This information was gathered from various institutional sources, associations and health establishments identified as being the reference point for this issue in the Principality of Monaco. In particular, we note that 33 cases of violence against women were recorded by the police in 2019. Nearly 60% of these cases involved physical violence, and 58% involved violence committed by a spouse or ex-spouse. Similarly, in 2019, 33 proceedings were opened for cases of violence committed against women in Monaco, 27 of which were for acts committed in 2019.
