Brief Description

In March 2015, the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare formed a working group for the development of a new Strategy on Domestic Violence for the period 2016-2020. In accordance to the challenges faced by the previous plan, five goals were identified and defined. Their idea is to direct the resources of the state for the next five years, as of its adoption, towards strengthening the system of protection both at sectorial and multi-sectorial levels, in accordance with the Istanbul Convention and other international acts regulating this area. In December 2015, the Strategy for Protection against Domestic Violence for the period 2016 - 2020 was adopted.  Although the title refers only to domestic violence, its definition of gender-based violence is based on that of Article 3, paragraph d of the Istanbul Convention.
