The setting up of a Multidisciplinary Technical Commission (by Resolution of the Council of Ministers 52/2019, of March 6; MTC) was one of the key achievements of the Government of Portugal in regards to improving the quality of services provided to victims and survivors of violence. The MTC is in charge of presenting concrete public policy proposals, during June 2019, regarding three main areas:
1) improving collection and treatment of official data on homicides and other forms of violence against women and domestic violence;
2) improving victim protection mechanisms within the 72 hours after a domestic violence complaint is lodged; and
3) improving and diversifying training models which should include modules that are common to the various sectors and value analysis of concrete cases.
