Criminal investigators dealing with individual areas of violence against women, both at the regional and at the national level, attend additional specialist training courses every year. Such training courses are mandatory and offer expertise in specific work areas covered by police officers. Police officers for domestic violence are thus additionally trained on how to prevent and handle domestic violence incidents, including violence against women, and on how to liaise with other institutions and NGOs and in actions to protect the victims (women). Training courses in other areas of violence against women are organised similarly. Regular basis training courses are also organised for police officers at the local level.
