The National Plan of Action on Gender 2008-2013 is the first such plan in Bhutan. It serves as a guide for implementing strategies and activities that address gender issues and seek to close current gaps. It was developed as a guiding document for gender mainstreaming and coincides with the 10th FYP period. It covers seven critical areas among which is violence against women (VAW) (Section 3.6). This document recognizes VAW as a growing concern and recommends series of actions to address the issue.
